Well, after a short wait -- much sooner than I had anticipated, I received the Illusions box set and excitedly put it in the VCR. Right away I knew CBS had pulled a fast one. It's really only 120 minutes (on two tapes for some reason) and sadly it's only "15 Years of Magic" the 1996 Special with just a few extra scenes tacked on at the end. It says on the back of the box that scenes from the Broadway show "Dreams and Nightmares" are included, but actually, its just a few scenes from other Copperfield specials including "Flying", "Snow", and "Granpa's Card Trick". Now for those of you who don't record and collect the Copperfield specials this video may be a treat -- but to most of us who have "15 Years of Magic" recorded on video, and all the other recent Copperfields specials, this video is sadly, a waste of money. I think CBS intentionally misled Copperfield fans for calling this "Illusions" instead of what it really is - "15 Years of Magic". Here's a suggestion to redeem themselves -- release all the Copperfiled specials separately, or better yet make an awesome DVD with all the Copperfield specials to date. That would be far more worth my money than this disappointing, misleading so-called box set.

Sorry to hear you (and several others) are disappointed with the videos. In this message you are blaming CBS. DAVID is the one who LET CBS put the videos out. He owns the rights to all of what he does. David NEVER promised any new Illusions would be included. (he is saving them for the DISAPPEARANCE) *** I also have a message in the above FORUM that should be read*** maureen

I do not agree. David/CBS should have called this video collection "15 Years of Magic". I would have still purchased it knowing that I am getting a real cool box design, a pristine picture with no commericials etc. BUT, to call it Illusions and promote it as something completely different was wrong. I agree that his greatest illusions are on the tape and that is what was advertised, but c'mon.. I have "15 Years" on video already -- sure it's off TV, but the way the illusions are presented are exactly the same. I was expecting that they would go back and grab scenes from previous specials... that's not the problem. But I did not expect the whole "15 Years" special identical to what was broadcast. I AM disappointed. Feel cheated? Yes. Happy to have the video? Yes. And I would buy every single special released on VHS or DVD... but don't mislead me into buying something new and getting a rerun. The box design was the main illusion... 2 tapes... you'd expect four hours of material (what I paid for) - not two. Shame on everyone involved.

I totally agree with Jeff,I am sure that all of us, DC's fans will purchase every single tapes of his TV Specials even if we have all the TV recorded Specials. And it will be more satisfying to us fans to get what we expected instead of changing the titleof what we already have. I still look forward for CBS to release all of DC's TV Specials on tapes. I personally thought the video would be something else, but I was happy with it. True, the ad should have probably went into more detail, but who cares? It's all done and over with, and those that ordered the video at least got the video. The ads should be more descriptive, but I think the majority of people that got the video are happy with it. I mean, usually one pays more because of the box something comes in because the box is usually something that is made up to make the item inside seem better. Think about it... go look around stores and see what I mean. Look at something you think looks cool... then picture it in some dinky little box with hardly any writing or pictures on it. I bet you'd buy the one that has all the cool stuff on the box first, huh? Of course! It has been a marketing secret for years! Also, many people probably are anxiously awaiting the tv special and wanted something new while they waited... Nevertheless, be happy that there was something at least, for goodness sakes people. Try to do good and people still aren't happy. Oh well... An idea would be to stop worrying about the things you can't change in your life. Look at the bright side, and move on. I don't mean to lecture, but don't you think it's a waste of time? (Just like this post of mine was!) J e f f
